R-32 Refrigerant

R-32 is a chlorine-free, ozone-safe refrigerant with a boiling point of -52°C. It is a key component of R410A, a commonly used blend in many countries as an alternative to HCFC-22, which depletes the ozone layer. However, R410A has a high Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 2088, prompting the need for a lower-GWP refrigerant to help mitigate climate change.
R-32 offers a GWP roughly one-third that of R410A and has excellent performance as a refrigerant. This has led to its development as a standalone alternative, replacing R410A in air-conditioning systems.

While selecting alternative refrigerants can be challenging—especially with low-GWP natural refrigerants—R-32 is nearly non-toxic, chemically stable, and commercially available. Its pressure is similar to R410A, allowing existing technology to be adapted while achieving excellent energy efficiency. These qualities make R-32 a practical and promising choice for both developed and developing countries.

High-Temperature Heat Pumps

Available Variations

Performance

MPCL R-134a ensures reliable cooling and excellent energy efficiency, even under high condensing temperatures.

Lubrication

R-134a is not miscible with mineral oil or alkylbenzene lubricants. It requires POE (Polyolester) or PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol, only for auto A/C) oils. These lubricants absorb moisture rapidly, so they must be handled carefully and kept away from prolonged air exposure.

Charging

R-134a can be charged as vapor or liquid, depending on the system. Always follow equipment manufacturer guidelines for proper charging methods.

Deliveries

MPCL R-134a is available in multiple packaging options:

Type HFC Near-azeotropic blend
ASHRAE safety classification A1-non-toxic and non-flammable
GWP* 3922
Recommended Lubricant POE

*GWP value for 100 – year time horizons according to IPCC 2007 Fourth Assessment Report.

Main Applications

Transforming ideas into impactful solutions.

4

Food processing units

5

Industrial refrigeration

6

Transport refrigeration (containers, trucks, vessels)

Available Variations

Lubrication

R-404A requires POE (Polyolester) lubricants to ensure full miscibility between oil and refrigerant. Proper miscibility supports oil return to the compressor, especially in larger systems with long piping runs.

Charging

Since R-404A is a near-azeotropic blend, it should preferably be charged as liquid to prevent fractionation (alteration of refrigerant composition). While gas charging is possible, a valve must be installed in the charging line to flash liquid into vapor.

Main Properties

Composition R-134a (52%) R-125 (25%) R-32 (23%)
Type HFC Zeotropic blend
ASHRAE safety classification A1-non-toxic and non-flammable
GWP* 1774
Recommended lubricant POE

*GWP value for 100 – year time horizons according to IPCC 2007 Fourth Assessment Report.

Main Applications

Transforming ideas into impactful solutions.

1

Residential and commercial A/C systems

2

Heat pumps

3

Non-flooded evaporator chillers

4

Other unitary air conditioning equipment

Available Variations

Lubrication

MPCL R-407C requires POE (Polyolester) lubricants since it is not compatible with mineral oil or alkylbenzene lubricants. Proper use of POE ensures smooth operation and oil return.

Charging

As a zeotropic blend, R-407C must be charged as liquid to avoid fractionation (changes in composition). If vapor charging is required, install a valve in the charging line to flash liquid into vapor before charging.

GWP* 2088
Recommended lubricant POE

*GWP value for 100 – year time horizons according to IPCC 2007 Fourth Assessment Report.

Main Applications

Available Variations

Performance

MPCL R-410A delivers high cooling capacity with reduced refrigerant charge, ensuring top energy efficiency in air conditioning systems.

Lubrication

R-410A requires POE (Polyolester) lubricants for proper miscibility with the refrigerant. POE oils are hygroscopic (absorb moisture quickly), so they must be handled with care. Excess moisture can cause oil degradation and potential system failure.

Charging

Being a near-azeotropic blend, R-410A should ideally be charged as liquid to avoid fractionation. While gas charging is possible, a valve should be installed in the charging line to flash liquid into vapor.

*Note: Use only manifold gauge sets, recovery machines, and cylinders specifically rated for the higher pressures of R-410A.

About

Just as refrigerants are essential for cooling performance, refrigeration oils are vital for compressor reliability. They reduce friction, prevent wear, and act as a seal between the low-pressure and high-pressure sides of the system.

Function

The primary role of refrigeration oil is lubrication. It must:

  • Withstand extreme temperature variations.
  • Remain fully compatible with refrigerants.

Properties

  • Works effectively across a wide temperature range.
  • Chemically stable to avoid reactions with refrigerants.
  • Maintains the right viscosity for consistent performance and compressor protection.
